There is something a little stange about being a girl from the east coast and painting pumpkins when it is still 85 degrees in October. What is even more bizare to me, is that my children will think that this is just another ordinary day in October. It saddens me a bit that they don't get to experience the fall foilage, or the scent of firewood burning in the air when that crisp cool autumn weather finaly hits. I remember as a kid, going to the pumpkin patch and hurring through to pick out the very best pumpkin I could find, only to scury inside to have some donuts and apple cider. I miss the fall in upstate NY. I want more than anything for my kids to jump in a pile of raked leaves, and find that to be the most fun that they've ever had! I want my kids to go to a REAL pumpkin patch, and go on real hayrides. Just as I was starting to feel sort of sad about that, I stumbled along this..........
Sunshine is delicious, rain is refreshing, wind braces us up, snow is exhilarating; there is really no such thing as bad weather, only different kinds of good weather. ~John Ruskin
Sometimes Vegas will throw this girl a bone, and give me a litte bit of what I love most, a thunderstorm! Not just the little rain showers that we get like once every 3 months, I mean it really STORMED!!! It poured down big fat rain drops, they sky was dark as night at 2 O'clock in the afternoon. There was some crazy thunder and wicked lighting. It was awesome!! My girl woke up early from her nap from the loud booms, and her and I cuddled up on the couch and stared out at the storm that brewed just for us.. Or at least it felt that way anyway! When these little miracles happen, it's like a piece of home has been delivered right in our backyard... Then I'm not so sad anymore :-)

As I mentioned earlier, it rained today. Daddy wore a hat and puffer jacket to work. When he came home, Francesca thought it would be fun to try it on, and this was her gansta' pose she gave us. :-) |
